WordWalk Academy is a free website for learning English. We want you to learn without worry, so we collect as little as possible. This page explains, in simple words, what happens to your data.
The short version
- You do not need an account.
- We do not use tracking cookies.
- Your learning progress and settings stay on your own phone or computer.
- We never sell your data.
What stays on your device
Your browser saves a few small things so the site remembers you: your meaning language (for example Urdu), your listening speed (Normal or Slow), which lessons and quizzes you finished, your practice streak, your word cards and your best typing score. This is saved only in your browser ("local storage"). It is not sent to us. To delete it, clear this site's data in your browser settings.
Other services we use
- Cloudflare (hosting). Our website runs on Cloudflare. Like every website host, Cloudflare receives your IP address and browser type when you open a page, to send you the page and to stop attacks.
- YouTube (videos). Lesson pictures come from YouTube's image server. The video player loads only when you press Play, from YouTube's privacy-enhanced address (youtube-nocookie.com). When you play a video, Google's privacy policy applies to that video.
- WhatsApp. When you tap "Send on WhatsApp", WhatsApp opens with a message. We do not see what you send.
- Speaking practice (microphone). "Say it out loud" uses your browser's speech recognition. Many browsers send your voice to their maker (for example Google or Apple) to turn it into text. The tool tells you this before the microphone starts, and you can choose "listen and repeat" instead. We never receive, record or keep your voice.
- Listening buttons. The sound comes from your own device's voice. Some browsers use an online voice service from their maker (for example Google or Apple) for this.
Children
Learners of all ages are welcome. We do not ask for names or ages, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are under 13, please ask a parent before you give us your email address.
Changes
If we change how we use data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
